The GLA:D program is a structured exercise program that is focused on helping individuals who are suffering from hip and knee osteoarthritis.

It was originally launched in Denmark in 2013, and since then, there have been thousands of people in different countries around the world taking the program and achieving a reduction in symptoms from knee and hip osteoarthritis.  Some of the positive outcomes include a reduction in pain, decreased use of painkillers, and less people having to miss work because of pain.

The GLA:D program is a 14 session program that takes place 2 times per week for 6-8 weeks.  It has 12 exercise sessions under the watchful eye of a physiotherapist and two education sessions.  Each session lasts between 60-90 minutes and takes place in our gym within the clinic at the Canada Games Centre.

Program participants report high levels of satisfaction with the program and increased levels of physical activity even 12 months after starting the program.  What makes this program unique is that it is designed specifically for people suffering from hip and knee OA combining both exercise and education.

Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapist can provide OT assessments and services, as well as comprehensive assessments of cognitive functioning ("Cognitive Functional Capacity Evaluation"). Please phone us for more details and to book assessments.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. It can also help to reduce your risk of injury or illness in the future. It takes a holistic approach that involves the patient directly in their own care. This can be fore a workplace injury, sports injury or just helping someone overcome aches and pains that are holding them back.
